Other developments driven by new CEO include fleet growth and improved technology

Qatar Airways' new group chief executive officer Engr Badr Mohammed Al-Meer has revealed major developments in line with his vision for the future of Qatar Airways.

His roadmap for success includes new products and services, including the introduction of upgraded First Class cabins on some of Qatar Airways' fleet.

Qatar Airways’ redesign of its premium Qsuite is set to debut at the Farnborough International Airshow in July 2024.

Al-Meer said: “Based on the demand from certain sectors, we see a high demand for First Class, and as such, have decided to introduce a newly-designed First Class cabin unique to Qatar Airways. No one can develop a First Class cabin better than us. We are combining the experience of flying commercial and executive jets to develop something new. We are 70 to 80% ready and are only finalising colours. We are hoping to announce it soon.”

Al-Meer also confirmed that the airline will continue to announce new routes in growth markets, including China and India, and said that the competitive aviation landscape in the GCC region is helping to "raise the bar when it comes to customer experience".

Qatar Airways currently serves more than 170 global destinations, and will soon launch inaugural flights to Hamburg, Germany and Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and resumed flights to Lisbon, Portugal and Venice, Italy.

Qatar Airways will also resume several summer seasonal routes, including Adana, Antalya, Bodrum and Trabzon in Turkey; Marrakesh in Morocco; Mykonos in Greece, and Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
