Aurora Expeditions has announced a new itinerary designed to explore Greenland’s northernmost tip.

Its purpose-built ship, The Greg Mortimer (pictured), will depart Reykjavik, Iceland on its 14-day East Greenland Explorer on 15 August 2023, sailing through Germania Land and on to Kronprins Christian Land in Northeast Greenland, a location not frequented by many expedition cruises.

The Australian-owned company with more than 32 years of history of purpose-driven exploration, prides itself on pushing the boundaries of discovery to provide immersive experiences for its expedition cruisers while maintaining a light footprint.

Commenting on the new journey, Aurora Expeditions chief marketing officer, Hayley Peacock Gower said: “We invite you to join us and be part of a trailblazing exploratory voyage, where the itinerary is driven by nature and Aurora’s genuine spirit of exploration.

"Aurora Expeditions continues to focus on increasing awareness of the thought-provoking, and inspiring regions it visits, through immersive and educational experiences, and by creating life-long advocates of our planet.”

The exact course of the voyage will depend on the weather and ice conditions, but currently the plan is to head north towards Kronprins Christian Land, the home of the world’s only military dog sled patrol, the Sirius Patrol of Northeast Greenland National Park.

The highly skilled Expedition Team will use their expertise to design the day-to-day activities, exploring on land or cruising along fjords, making the best use of the prevailing conditions and wildlife opportunities.
