Former Sales and Marketing VP to "drive further growth"

Hurtigruten has appointed Iain Powell as the cruise line’s new Chief Commercial Officer.

Powell joined Hurtigruten in March 2024 as Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for the UK and emerging markets, before being promoted to Managing Director for the Nordics, UK and emerging markets in December the same year.

Following his latest promotion, he will lead Hurtigruten’s global commercial strategy with the aim of strengthening the company’s market position and driving further growth.

A Hurtigruten spokesperson said that, over the past year, Powell has “proven himself to be a strong and clear leader, demonstrating the ability to deliver results across multiple markets”.

“We are very pleased that Iain is stepping into the role of Chief Commercial Officer. In a short time, he has demonstrated leadership, business acumen and the ability to execute. These qualities will be critical for the company’s continued progress,” said Hedda Felin, Hurtigruten's Chief Executive Officer.

Powell added: “I’m delighted to take on this role and very much appreciate the support that the business has given me. There’s strong demand from people wanting to experience Norway, and we are fortunate to have a truly unique product of world-class journeys through spectacular nature.
