MSC Splendida marks the start of third Saudi Cruise season

The vessel sailed from Jeddah to Yanbu port on its maiden call

Saudi’s Yanbu Commercial Port officially launched the third edition of the Saudi Cruise season by berthing MSC Splendida, marking the vessel’s maiden cruise call for the season that will run until May 2023.

A crest exchange ceremony to celebrate the start of the new season was held at both Jeddah and Yanbu ports aboard the 4,300-passenger liner, which is scheduled to make weekly trips from Jeddah Islamic Port.

MSC Splendida’s itinerary for the season covers both Saudi ports, which are growing in popularity and are joining more established destinations in Egypt and Jordan as Red Sea hubs.

The growing popularity of Saudi as a cruise destination is in line with the strategy put in place by Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) to attract high vessel traffic. According to Mawani, Saudi Arabia's ports are well equipped to receive a high influx of cruise vessels due to their modern infrastructure and operational capabilities.
