India’s capital New Delhi took the top spot

New Delhi, India has been crowned the most affordable travel destination for 2024, in the latest study carried out by the UK's discount experts at online e-commerce brand Wethrift. 

The cities were ranked based on a number of factors including affordability of public transport, the average cost of tourist attractions and the price of accommodation.

Famous for its historical monuments and bustling food markets, New Delhi has 145 inbound flight routes to choose from, meaning travellers can find competitively priced flight. The cost of accommodation came in at an average US$50 for a weekend stay for two people, one of the cheapest listed within the entire study.

Hanoi in Vietnam took second place with a score of 63 out of a possible 80, closely followed by two destinations in Eygpt – Cairo and Hurghada – and Istanbul in Turkey.
