Muscat and Salalah International place among top 5% in the region
Oman’s aviation sector is gaining global recognition after two of the sultanate’s airports were named among the best for customer service in the 2025 ASQ Customer Experience Awards, led by the Airports Council International (ACI).
Muscat International Airport (MCT) and Salalah International Airport (SLL) were the sole Middle East winners in the Most Dedicated Staff category, ranking among the top 5% of airports in the region. Salalah retained this title for a third consecutive year, while Muscat won it for the second time. Both airports outperformed other major regional hubs, including Dubai International Airport (DXB) in the UAE and King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Saudi Arabia.
The awards were calculated using real-time surveys from more than 700,000 passengers worldwide. Results showed that an increasing number of travellers are favouring welcoming environments and human interactions during their journey.

Muscat and Salalah International were also recognised as the cleanest and most enjoyable airports, with Salalah noted for its ease of navigation, further highlighting their commitment to passenger experiences.
Commenting on the global 2025 trends, Pedro Alves, Senior Vice President of Borders at SITA, said: “Air travel is evolving at pace, with passengers expecting more seamless and rewarding experiences than ever before.”
These awards come amid strong annual performance across all of Oman’s airports, which reported nearly 15 million passengers in 2025. The number of passengers on international flights surpassed 11.8 million in Muscat, marking a 1.3% year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, in Salalah, domestic flights saw significant growth, increasing by 14.% from 5,450 to 6,227 by year-end.
Mirroring growing airport activity, the sultanate’s national carrier, Oman Air, also posted a 34% increase in inbound traffic, having handled nearly 6 million passengers in 2025. The airline continues to expand its network and offer new international routes, including upcoming launches to Singapore, Rwanda and Sochi, Russia in summer 2026.
