Abu Dhabi to tighten entry requirements

Abu Dhabi to tighten entry requirements

The updated rules will come into effect on Sunday 19 December 2021

Commuters entering Abu Dhabi from within the UAE will have to undergo testing at the border from Sunday 19 December 2021.

Scanners that can detect signs that a person may have Covid-19 will be introduced in an effort to curb the spread of the virus.

Drivers and passengers will be scanned by EDE devices as they cross the border. Those showing signs of possibly having the virus will be given a free rapid antigen test that delivers results in 20 minutes.

If the test is positive, those who are residents of Abu Dhabi will be required to isolate for 10 days and will be fitted with a tracking wristband for the duration.

Those residing outside of the capital must return to the emirate from which they travelled and notify the local health authority of their test result.
