The rental platform is also providing accommodation for first responders

Airbnb is working with non-profit organisations and government entities to offer free, temporary housing to survivors of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

The lodgings will be made available to people displaced by the recent earthquakes as well as first responders assisting with search and rescue efforts. Housing vouchers are issued and allocations are facilitated through Airbnb’s nonprofit partners and government entities.

In the immediate aftermath of the earthquake, Airbnb.org reached out to organisations on the ground, including JDC, Catholic Relief Services, CARE International and Build Change, to assess how it can best support housing needs in impacted areas and safe zones.

People interested in lending their support can visit www.airbnb.org/earthquakes  to donate.

Currently, all donations will be matched by up to a total of US$5 million.
