Alila Hinu Bay partners with Oman Expedition on luxury desert tour

The 10-day tour is aimed at thrill-seeking HNWIs

Alila Hinu Bay has announced the launch of a new luxurious desert expedition set to depart in Spring 2024, hosted by Oman Expedition and aimed at high-net-worth individuals.

Founded by The Canvas Club, a team of desert explorers, the tour – which costs 11,700 OMR (US$30,390) per couple – will take guests on a heart-pounding 1500km journey across mountains, sand dunes and desert known as the ‘Empty Quarter’, which lies between Oman and the border of Saudi Arabia.

Tailored to the lunar calendar, the experience will invite thrill-seekers to trek through the desert for days, surrounded by Oman's natural wonders.

The Oman Expedition itinerary highlights include:

Day 1: Upon arriving in Oman’s capital city, guests will meet The Canvas Club team and be encouraged to mentally prepare for the trip.

Days 2 and 3: The tour will begin with a drive to the Jabal Akhdar Mountains, which peak at 3,000 metres above sea level on the Via Ferrata, a high-altitude climbing route.

Day 4: From the mountains the tour heads to the Sharqiyah Desert, an intermediate of the Rub al Khail, the largest sand desert that the travellers will be crossing in the days to come. Later, there'll be a short detour to Wadi Hawer Oasis, with a trek over several natural water pools and waterfalls with deep canyons. Then, while driving to the Canvas Club Camp over the dunes, there will be dune bashing training.

Days 5 to 8: Guests will embark on a longer journey to Fahud, before a traverse in the desert begins. Lasting four days, the crossing will comprise dune landscapes of the North and South sections of the ‘Empty Quarter,’ Rub al Khali, the largest sand desert on Earth. Guests will set up camp in the hollow desert, without mobile coverage and far from civilization. Without light pollution, the night sky will be a blanket of stars.

Day 8: Reaching the Canvas Club South Camp by evening, situated at one of the highest dunes in the region, the last night will allow time for reflection of the experiences of the past few days.

Day 9 and 10: The final destination of the expedition is the green south of Salalah where Alila Hinu Bay serves as a retreat to unwind.

The Oman Expedition costs 11,700 OMR (US$30,390) per couple. For more information visit, www.alilahinubay.com
