Dubai luxury hotel becomes first in the Middle East to achieve highest rating
The Michelin Guide has revealed its first-ever Key ratings for hotels in the Middle East, with Dubai’s Atlantis The Royal leading the way as the only property in the region to receive the highest Three-Key distinction.
The five-star resort also clinched the inaugural global award for Architecture & Design.
The awards, which celebrate the world’s most outstanding hotels and included the Middle East for the first time, were announced at a ceremony in Paris last night (8 October).
A total of 44 Gulf hotels received Michelin Keys in this year’s awards, with Atlantis The Royal standing out as the first – and only – property in the Middle East to attain the coveted Three-Key level, joining just 142 other hotels worldwide in this elite category.
The Dubai resort stands alongside international icons such as Aman New York, The Savoy in London and Rosewood Hong Kong.
Michelin inspectors described Atlantis The Royal as “by any measure one of the most extravagant, luxurious hotels anywhere in the world.”
The inaugural Michelin Architecture & Design Award also went to Atlantis The Royal, commended for its “complete re-envisioning of the concept of the skyscraper itself – six interconnected towers, constructed with cantilevered blocks, become their own indoor/outdoor neighbourhood in the Dubai skyline.”
Inspectors added that “even by Dubai’s standards, the building that’s home to Atlantis The Royal is a spectacular one, an architectural statement piece set along the beach.”
Atlantis The Royal beat competition from Saudi Arabia’s Shebara Resort, Rosewood São Paulo in Brazil, Benesse House in Japan and Villa Nai 3.3 in Croatia, all on the shortlist.

It also reflects the visionary leadership of Kerzner International, whose continued support and guidance have been instrumental to our success.
“To really produce extraordinary moments from arrival to the stay, everyone in the room has the same vision and we are very fortunate to have such an iconic destination in the region.”
One of two Atlantis Dubai properties, Atlantis The Royal features award-winning dining across 16 restaurants, lounges and bars, including One Michelin-starred Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, as well as Nobu’s first beach club concept, Nobu by the Beach, and the newly opened Carbone Dubai, which recently hosted a star-studded launch.
Collectively, the Atlantis Dubai portfolio – encompassing Atlantis The Palm and Atlantis The Royal – now holds six Michelin stars, the most in the Middle East.
Three stars were awarded to FZN in 2025, while Ossiano and Hakkasan Dubai at Atlantis The Palm each hold one star (since 2022) and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal Dubai at Atlantis The Royal has held one star since 2023.
More than 2,457 hotels were recognised in the inaugural global Michelin Key awards, selected from more than 7,000 establishments across North America, Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa and the Middle East.
