Bahrain drops PCR tests on arrival

Precautionary quarantine is no longer required for arrivals either

Bahrain’s Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) has announced that passengers arriving in the Kingdom no longer need to conduct a PCR test upon arrival.

This decision follows recommendations made by the National Medical Task Force for Combating the Coronavirus.

According to other protocol updates, people who come into close contact with active cases will no longer have to undergo a precautionary period of isolation. This includes individuals who do not have the green shield on the BeAware Bahrain application.

In addition, PCR tests will only be available by appointment (by calling 444 or through the BeAware application) for individuals experiencing Covid-19 related symptoms. PCR tests at drive-through testing centres will also be available to those with positive rapid test results.

The updated protocol follows the cancellation of the isolation period for individuals with the green shield. The decision to ease regulations was made based on national indicators that show the effectiveness of the vaccination and the booster in raising the body’s immune response against the virus.
