Celestyal resumes Athens operations

Celestyal resumed operations from Athens, Greece on 1 May 2026 after both ships in its fleet were stuck in the Middle East.

Celestyal Discovery and Celestyal Journey managed to sail through the Strait of Hormuz on 17 and 18 April to start their repositioning and are now commencing their Mediterranean seasons after sailings in March and April were cancelled.

Discovery will operate the three and four-night Iconic Greek Island itinerary, while Journey sails the seven-night Idyllic Greece itinerary from 2 May onward. Chief Executive Chris Theophilides wrote in a LinkedIn post that the restart represented “a defining moment” for the company.
