Dnata cuts CO2 emissions by 80 tonnes per year with biofuel switch

The company aims to reduce its carbon footprint and waste to landfill by 20% by 2024

Dnata continues to take initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint across its operations in the UAE. 

Dnata’s group brands have recently converted their vehicles to run on a biofuel blend and so far the move has saved 80 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions per year, equivalent to more than 198,838 miles driven by an average petrol-powered car.

In June 2022, dnata announced it would invest US$100 million in green operations to further enhance its environmental efficiency globally.

The latest initiative is part of efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and waste to landfill by 20% by 2024, in line with its two-year green strategy. 

Steve Allen, chief executive at Dnata Group, said: “We will continue to invest in our operations, including large-scale infrastructure solutions, to further enhance our sustainability performance and achieve our green operations targets.”

Other recent key initiatives include continued significant investment in renewable infrastructure, low-emissions ground support solutions and improvements to optimise fuel efficiency. 

Dnata also continues to make significant investments in renewable energy including the installation of rooftop solar panels across its existing facilities. It also captures and recycles grey water or rainwater.
