Agency reveals new entry in its top three and tailors summer deals to meet demand

Dnata Travel has unveiled the most popular holiday destinations for UAE travellers this summer, with Thailand topping the list for travel between June and September.

The Maldives is ranked second, with bookings up 108% year on year. Dnata travel experts attribute the rise to an increase in the number of new and established private island resorts across the country.

The US secures a place in the top three for the first time, with Los Angeles and New York the most popular cities. The top five in full are:

1. Thailand

2. Maldives

3. US

4. Turkey

5. UK

Dnata said 65% of its bookings for travel between June and September are for international destinations and 35% for staycations within the UAE.

According to the online travel agent, bookings for Eid al-Adha, which is expected to begin on the evening of 16 June 2024 and end on the evening of 20 June, are up 40% compared with the wider summer months.

In its summer campaign, Dnata is offering savings of up to 35% for UAE travellers across trending beach stays and city breaks worldwide.

As an example, a four-night stay at the five-star Angsana Laguna Phuket, Thailand, on half-board basis, including complimentary meals for children and benefits for honeymooners, plus return flights, leads in at US$1,415 per person.

Dnata Travel head of retail and leisure UAE Meerah Ketait said: “UAE-based travellers are exploring more of the world, including a variety of new locations across popular hotspots. Between 2020 and 2024, several new resorts are bringing more to discover across the islands of the Maldives, and this year our customers are making the most of trying somewhere new.

“Ever-popular destinations such as Thailand, Turkey and the UK are also seeing travellers taking in more across their varied landscapes and attractions, while the US is an exciting new top-three entry for 2024.”
