Emirati-inspired restaurant Smat launches in Dubai’s D3

The Dubai Design District Emirati fusion restaurant and cafe will also serve as a co-working space

With music provided by a resident oud player, Smat is designed to evoke nostalgia and transport diners to an Emirati mothers’ kitchens. As they enter, guests are greeted by the waft of oud, followed by the scents of lugaimat dough balls and lamb kebabs.

Emirati co-founder Nadia Alkhaja has curated a menu that showcases elevated versions of renowned local dishes.

Coffee connoisseurs can opt for a variety of single origins or fragrant gahwa (coffee) accompanied by a selection of rich desserts.

With indoor and outdoor seating, Smat will also serve as a co-working space for young creatives of D3.
