Flydubai temporarily suspends Ukraine flights amid rising tensions

The UAE’s Ukrainian embassy has advised citizens to postpone non-essential travel to Ukraine

UAE-based airlines have announced that they’re closely monitoring the military situation between Ukraine and Russia, as well as the usage of the Ukrainian airspace.

Budget carrier Flydubai, which operates flights to two Ukrainian cities, cancelled services to the capital Kiev on 16 February, as airlines around the world also made adjustments to their flight schedules.

Lufthansa announced the suspension of flights to Kiev until the end of February, and KLM has announced an indefinite suspension of flights to Ukraine or through Ukrainian airspace.

Speaking about the flight suspension, a Flydubai spokesperson said: Flydubai flights between Dubai and Ukraine were temporarily suspended on 16 February only. Our double daily service to Kiev and our three weekly flights to Odesa are operating.”
