Jumeirah Group appoints GM for its first Saudi hotel

Rizwan Shaikh will lead the team at Makkah-based Jabal Omar Jumeirah

Jumeirah Group has named Rizwan Shaikh as general manager of Jabal Omar Jumeirah in Makkah, its first hotel in Saudi Arabia.

Located a short walk from Masjid Al Haram, it will be one of the largest hotels in the group’s portfolio, with 1,033 rooms and suites and 88 apartments.

Shaikh boasts more than 20 years of luxury hospitality experience across India, Singapore and Saudi Arabia having previously held senior positions at Taj Hotels, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.

Jumeirah Group chief operating officer Thomas B Meier said: “We are delighted to welcome Rizwan to Jabal Omar Jumeirah. Shaikh’s appointment comes as Jumeirah Group plans expansion, with its second property in the Kingdom, Jumeirah The Red Sea, scheduled to open in 2024.
