Katerina Giannouka resigns as Jumeirah Group CEO

Current COO Thomas B Meier will serve as interim CEO

Jumeirah Group has confirmed that Katerina Giannouka has stepped down as chief executive officer one year into the role.

Thomas B Meier, the current chief operating officer of Jumeirah Group, will serve as the interim CEO, as he did following the departure of CEO Jose Silva in 2022. 

Giannouka’s appointment as Jumeirah’s first female CEO in 2022 marked a significant milestone for the company and the industry.

Jumeirah Group has released a statement praising her leadership and commitment, and highlighting her role in enhancing the brand’s global presence and performance.

Just four days earlier, the company had congratulated the departing CEO on her inclusion to the Forbes Middle East's 100 Most Powerful Businesswomen of 2024, saying: "This recognition is a testament to Katerina's visionary leadership and dedication in driving our brand’s ambitious Mission 2030 plans, as we carve out a bold identity that will take Jumeirah from a regional success story to a globally renowned luxury hotel company. Giannouka previously worked as Asia Pacific president at Radisson Hotel Group and as a development vice president for Rosewood across Asia Pacific and China.
