Marriott International to debut W brand in Greece this summer

W Costa Navarino will be the latest addition to the W Escapes portfolio in Europe

Marriott International has signed an agreement with developer and operator Temes SA to debut the W Hotels Worldwide brand in Greece with the opening of W Costa Navarino

Set to open this summer, W Costa Navarino will mark the latest addition to the growing W Escapes portfolio, joining properties in Spain, Switzerland and Portugal.

The new W Escape will be located on the Navarino waterfront, in the sustainable, integrated resort of Costa Navarino in Messinia, southwest Peloponnese

The 13-hectare beachfront property will feature 246 rooms, suites and villas, many with private pools set in the Bay of Navarino with views of the Ionian Sea. The interiors will be by London-based MKV Design, while the property itself was designed by Greek architects Tombazis and Associates Architects.

Architecture inspired by local stone and wood

Commenting on the announcement,Candice D’Cruz, Marriott International vice president of Luxury Brands, Europe, Middle East & Africa, said: ‘‘We’re thrilled to build on our fantastic relationship with Temes SA to open W Costa Navarino, strengthening Marriott International’s presence in this Mediterranean paradise. Joining our portfolio of coveted W Escapes around the world, W Costa Navarino will add a distinct take on modern luxury to Navarino Waterfront. We look forward to welcoming free-spirited travellers to this new luxury playground.”

W Costa Navarino will be home to five dining venues including a beach club and a ‘Culinary Square’, which is the hotel’s playful take on an artisan food market with individual outlets open for all-day dining. Other venues include a sunset bar and the signature W Living Room.

Active guests will be able to enjoy onsite tennis courts and a water sports hub

Guests will also have access to the destination’s four golf courses and additional outdoor activities, including biking, hiking, rock-climbing and sailing.

Sharing his thoughts on the effect that the new property will have on the destination, Temes SA chairman Achilles V Constantakopoulos said: “W Costa Navarino will generate a unique energy encouraging free expression and connection between a diverse mix of people, while respecting and honouring authentic experiences and cultures.
