All passengers can stream, browse and connect with speeds up to 800 Mbps
Saudia Airlines has begun rolling out free high-speed WiFi on its flights, marking a major leap forward in its ongoing digital transformation strategy.
The service, launched on 1 November, is currently in a pilot phase and provides internet speeds of up to 300 Mbps, with future updates set to boost connectivity to 800 Mbps as the service expands across the entire fleet.
Passengers can seamlessly connect multiple devices, switch between them without interruption, stream live content, browse the web or join virtual meetings throughout their journey.
Nearly 20 aircraft have already been equipped, with the rollout continuing as regulatory approvals are finalised.
The free high-speed WiFi is expected to deliver particular value for business and international travellers who require consistent connectivity in the air.

According to Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser, the new service is “essential,” adding that efforts are underway to expedite implementation across all Saudia aircraft.
Saudia’s move comes as new Saudi carrier Riyadh Air enters soft launch and is set to add fresh competition to Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector.
While Riyadh Air has not confirmed whether it will offer complimentary in-flight WiFi, industry sources expect the newcomer to deliver high-spec connectivity in line with global standards, potentially making free access available to every passenger.
For now, Saudia stands out among regional airlines for its inclusive offering. Emirates began complimentary WiFi in May 2023, but limits full-speed access to select cabins or Skywards members.
Meanwhile, Qatar Airways introduced speeds up to 500 Mbps on some aircraft in July 2025, complimentary to all passengers travelling in both Premium and Economy cabins. This is currently only available on its Boeing 777 fleet, with plans to expand the service to A350 aircraft.
