The Hoxton debuts in Scotland with Edinburgh hotel

Georgian property includes three-bedroom apartments, Italian dining and a cinema

The Hoxton has opened its latest hotel in Edinburgh, marking the brand's debut in Scotland and 18th property worldwide, following the recent opening of The Hoxton Florence

Owned by Ennismore, the brand which was born in London in 2006, is known for its ‘open house’ concept, with each property deeply rooted in the local culture and featuring design-led rooms, vibrant spaces and a community-focused approach.

To celebrate the opening, Dis-loyalty loyalty members can enjoy half-price rates at The Hoxton, Edinburgh until 20 September.

Set on Grosvenor Street in the city’s West End, the hotel is just steps from the city’s new tram line, offering easy access to Edinburgh’s top attractions, including Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat.

Occupying 11 Georgian-inspired terraced townhouses across both sides of historic Grosvenor Street, The Hoxton combines original preserved features such as ornate cornicing, high ceilings and sash windows with mid-century furnishings, bold geometric textiles and luxury highlights, including a vintage Murano glass chandelier in the lobby.

There are 214 rooms across two buildings, with nine room categories including the brand’s debut ‘House' category, providing families or groups with spacious, self-contained three-bedroom homes. The interiors, designed by AIME Studios, draw inspiration from the building’s heritage and Edinburgh’s rich history.

Dining is centered around Patatino, an all-day Italian trattoria inspired by the Amalfi Coast that combines classic Italian dishes with Scottish ingredients in a setting styled with striped awnings and dramatic florals. And for drinks, a taproom-style bar in the open-house lobby serves coffee by day and cocktails by night.

As with all Hoxton properties, this one is deeply connected to the local community. There’s a retro five-seater cinema with velvet seating and a popcorn machine where guests can enjoy films curated by local group Cinetopia, while the Hox Gallery showcases emerging Edinburgh artists and a boutique curates products from local makers.

While there is no on-site gym or spa, guests can enjoy exclusive rates at nearby fitness studios and they can also borrow complimentary Brompton bikes to explore the neighbourhood with its array of boutiques and restaurants.

Positioning itself as a destination for events, the property has a number of versatile spaces, including a ballroom-style room with a private bar and stage that can accommodate up to 250 guests, as well as The Apartment, offering four private rooms around a communal pantry and kitchen.

The Hoxton’s opening comes amid a wave of new hotel developments in Scotland, including Ruby Hotels which is set to open a 300-room property on Princes Street in late 2025.
