Travel trade welcomes Vietnam visa waiver extension

From 15 August 2023, more nationalities can enjoy visa-free stays for up to 45 days

Travellers with British, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, Russian, Finnish, Danish, Japanese and South Korean passports can now stay in Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days.

Previously, visitors from these countries could only stay visa-free for 15 days.

The new visa policy was approved by the Vietnamese government in June 2023. In addition to visa-free stays, three-month multiple entry visas are available to passport holders from 80 countries, including those from the UAE and the UK.

The trade has welcomed news as it will allow for more immersive trips and boost bookings to the destination.

InsideAsia was one of the first tour operators to welcome the news. Charlotte Bower, senior southeast Asia product executive, said: “We are wholly welcoming of the move which will allow our customers longer, more meaningful cultural adventures to this beautiful country. A longer trip will allow people to get deeper into what makes Vietnam so good."
