Wolfgang Becker will collaborate with chef Lam Chi Kuen on a menu at Mandarin Oriental, Doha
Mandarin Oriental, Doha is set to welcome chef Wolfgang Becker of the two-Michelin-starred Becker’s Restaurant, to the hotel’s Liang Restaurant for a culinary collaboration with executive chef Lam Chi Kuen. Together they will present a menu featuring a combination of traditional Cantonese dishes and modern haute cuisine as part of Qatar’s World Class Chefs culinary series.
Chef Becker’s eponymous restaurant, Becker’s, has maintained two Michelin stars since 2009. Other accolades for Becker include being awarded 18 points by the French restaurant guide Gault & Millau.
At Liang Restaurant, Becker will serve seafood soup with scallops; Alaskan king crab and seaweed, and wild carabinero prawn with crustacean oil, chives and cauliflower. Sichuan-style sea bass with wood fungus, capsicums in chilli and broad bean sauce is one of the highlights from Kuen.
Qatar Tourism, Qatar Airways, Qatar Aircraft Catering company (QACC) and Kings of Kitchen have collaborated to create a culinary initiative, World Class Chefs. The two-year project aims to host high-profile chefs from around the world, with the purpose of introducing the world’s top culinary talent to the region, while exploring investment opportunities in the emerging gastronomy hub.
