Almost 9,000 cruise passengers passed through Cruise Saudi ports on 22 February

Cruise Saudi welcomed close to 9,000 tourists from three cruise ships at two ports on 22 February, celebrated in the kingdom as Saudi Founding Day.

Jeddah Islamic Port and Dammam's King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam saw the arrival of the MSC Splendida with more 3,000 passengers, Residences at Sea's ultra-luxury private residential ship the World with more than 80 residents, and MSC World Europa with more than 5,600 passengers.

In Jeddah, tourists were welcomed at the passengers’ terminal with traditional Founding Day activities, including the sharing of cultural gifts, Saudi coffee and dates, as well as folk dances.

The tourists, hailing mainly from England, Spain, Italy France and Russia, witnessed and engaged in the festivities before embarking on excursions in both Jeddah and the Eastern Province through Dammam Port.

In Jeddah, excursions included a flight to visit AlUla, Saudi’s first UNESCO World Heritage site as well as a journey through centuries of culture and traditions at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Jeddah Historical District (Al Balad).

From Dammam, the excursions included Saudi’s third UNESCO World Heritage site, Al Asha Oasis, exploring the Qara Mountain, Princess School and Al Qaisariyah Souq.

Other excursions provided an escape to the beach or a drive to Dammam’s distinctive Love Market. Located in the heart of the city, Share Al-Hob is known locally as the Love Market for the jewellery shops that ring its outer streets.

Cruise Saudi’s ongoing cruising season, taking place from November 2022 until May 2023 will see more than 75 scheduled ship calls.
