Crystal resumes restaurant partnership with Nobu Matsuhisa

Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony to feature signature dining venue Umi Uma

Luxury line Crystal has confirmed Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony will both feature speciality dining venue Umi Uma by Nobu Matsuhisa Restaurant and Sushi Bar when they relaunch later this year.

The two ocean ships are undergoing an extensive refit after being acquired by A&K Travel Group last year alongside the Crystal Cruises brand. The line was rebranded to Crystal – Exceptional at Sea in February in 2023 along with the launch of its new website.

Umi Uma was a popular fixture on previous Crystal Cruises ships. Said to be inspired by the “traditions of the Orient”, the venue features signature dishes such as Nobu-style black cod, grilled Chilean sea bass, Wagyu beef filet steak and fresh sushi from the venue’s Sushi Bar.

“It wouldn’t be Crystal without having one of the most popular restaurants Umi Uma back onboard when the new Crystal sets sail,” said Bernie Leypold, senior vice president of hotel operations at Crystal. “Crystal’s guests have come to know and love the exquisite offerings chef Nobu has created and we are so grateful for Crystal to be the only cruise line with a Nobu restaurant at sea.”

Matsuhisa added: “Crystal is known for their award-winning food and beverage programme, and we're proud to have Umi Uma feature our innovative fusion cuisine, blending traditional Japanese dishes with Peruvian ingredients.”
