Latin American singer to name new Norwegian Cruise Line ship in Miami
Latin Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, musician and producer Luis Fonis is to serve as godfather to the new Norwegian Cruise Line ship Norwegian Viva.
The second in the brand’s six-strong Prima class is to be named in Miami before moving to its winter Caribbean home port of San Juan, Puerto Rico in December 2023.
The ship will then run a summer 2024 season of cruises from Athens (Piraeus), Lisbon, Rome (Civitavecchia) and Venice (Trieste).
Norwegian Viva is due to enter service in August 2024 in the Mediterranean, running cruises until November before repositioning across the Atlantic.
Puerto Rican-born Fonsi will christen the ship at a ceremony in Miami on 28 November 2023.

As a native Puerto Rican, who is also based in Miami, he brings people together from around the world with his energy, positivity and music, making him the perfect complement to the vibrant energy of Norwegian Viva.”
