NCL's Norwegian Encore to undergo revamp

Refurbished ship to feature an adults-only area and new balcony cabins

Launched less than five years ago, Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Encore has been scheduled for refurbishment.

The 4,000-passenger capacity ship will undergo a two-week revamp in dry dock from 18 November 2024.

Key enhancements will include the addition of adults-only outdoor lounge Spice H2O, new accommodations in The Haven by Norwegian Suites, and the introduction of Mediterranean speciality restaurant, Palomar.

Billed as an outdoor oasis for guests aged 18 and above, Spice H2O will replace the laser tag arena. It will combine guests' favourite amenities of Spice H2O, introduced in the Breakaway-Plus Class ships, with those from the latest Prima Class vessels' Infinity Beach concept. Promised features include multiple hot tubs, eight large day beds, cooling pools and a large bar serving cocktails.

Due to growing demand for the three-bedroom suites, Norwegian Encore’s Premier Owner’s Suites in The Haven by Norwegian will be changed from two to three bedrooms with fully renovated living rooms, master bedrooms and separate dining rooms.

Norwegian Encore will also add 24 new balcony staterooms and two club balcony staterooms by repurposing a portion of the ship’s Observation Lounge.

In the F&B offering, Ocean Blue will be converted to the guest-favourite Palomar, serving elevated Mediterranean seafood, and two popular speciality restaurants, Cagney’s Steakhouse and Teppanyaki, will be expanded to increase capacity.

Once the refurbishment is completed, the ship will embark on a 12-day transatlantic crossing from Southampton in the UK to Miami, Florida in the US.

Norwegian Encore will then spend the winter in the Caribbean until March 2025 before re-locating to Seattle to run seven-day cruises to Alaska.

NCL president David Herrera said: “Our guests’ wants and needs are at the forefront of every decision that we make, and enhancing Norwegian Encore with more of the experiences they value showcases our commitment to just that.

“From more space for adults to relax, to more opportunities to enjoy their favourite dining options, we are dedicated to providing our guests with an elevated onboard experience as part of their dream vacation.”
