Venture’s maiden voyage will depart 27 July
Following a series of setbacks during the pandemic, Seabourn has finally taken delivery of its first expedition ship during a handover ceremony at the T Mariotti shipyard in Genoa.
The line’s president, Josh Leibowitz, praised the Italian shipyard for completing “a wonderful job” and bringing a “stunning design vision to life”.
Supply chain issues caused the delivery of the ship to be delayed twice before it was handed over to the line on Wednesday 29 June 2022. It was initially due to launch in Greenwich, London, in December 2021.
Venture’s maiden voyage will now depart on 27 July 2022, instead of 15 July as previously scheduled.
Leibowitz said: “Seabourn Venture will raise the bar in ultra-luxury expedition travel and we look forward to introducing her to the world.”
Marco Ghiglione, managing director of T Mariotti, added: “Since we started building Seabourn Venture, the world has literally changed before our eyes, requiring unexpected efforts. These efforts, together with the great dedication and passion of the team at T Mariotti and subcontractors with Seabourn, have been the keys to success.”
The PC6 polar class ship, which has 132 suites, will feature modern hardware and technology that extend the ship’s global deployment and capabilities.
A team of 26 experts – including scientists, scholars and naturalists – will join Venture’s sailings.
Zodiac cruises, hikes, nature walks, scuba diving and snorkelling will all be included in the cruise fare and available during sailings.
