The world’s first ‘Yacht Liner’ to launch in 2024

Somnio will comprise 39 apartments, which can be bought by invitation only

The largest luxury yacht in the world, Somnio, is set to launch in 2024. Conceived by Winch Design in the UK and Tillberg Design in Sweden, the vessel will feature 39 spacious apartments, allowing owners to travel the globe in a safe and exclusive environment. 

Dubbed the world’s first ‘Yacht Liner’, Somnio was created to provide all the benefits of superyacht ownership, with onboard amenities reflecting the service found in five-star hotels. With the pandemic in mind, world-class medical care will also be available on board to assure the safety of apartment owners.

There are six apartment decks, with prices per unit starting from €9.5 million. Bespoke features can include a private gym, library, indoor and outdoor dining space, and dressing rooms.  Full concierge services will be available for both onboard and land-based needs.

Somnio will be 222 metres long and have a gross tonnage of 33,500GRT, making her the largest yacht in the world, in both length and volume. The pioneering project, costing approximately €500 million, is being overseen by Somnio co-founder Captain Erik Bredhe, previously Master of M/V The World, to date the only residential vessel at sea.

Announcing the launch of Somnio, Captain Erik Bredhe said: “Somnio will be the only residential superyacht in the world and has been designed to exacting standards that are commensurate with a life of opportunity. Owners will share a truly unique lifestyle at sea, with a hand-picked crew and a never-ending global itinerary of carefully selected destinations and experiences befitting a yacht of this nature.” 

Amenities on board will include a spectacular 10,000-bottle cellar and tasting room, several restaurants and bars, and an onboard beach club featuring watersports facilities. A lounge in the ship’s bow will offer spectacular views when sailing through scenic areas. 

Owners will enjoy the experience of private yacht ownership with likeminded neighbours and friends while exploring the world. Their identities will remain a tightly guarded secret and the process is by invitation or referral only.
