Connecting Travel joined agents and VIPs aboard the preview sailing
The world’s biggest-ever cruise ship, Icon of the Seas, has welcomed guests in Miami for a trade and media preview sailing from Miami to the Bahamas.
Connecting Travel joined Royal Caribbean staff, travel agents and VIPs aboard the first-in-class, 1,198-foot-long vessel ahead of its inaugural customer sailing, departing from Miami on 27 January 2024.
For the preview, the ship sailed to Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at CocoCay island resort before returning to Miami.
Accommodating up to 5,610 guests in 2,850 staterooms serviced by 2,350 crew, the mammoth record-breaking ship features eight distinct ‘neighbourhoods’, seven swimming pools, more than 40 restaurants and bars and the Ultimate Family Townhouse duplex suite which has a slide as well as stairs.
Highlights of the new ship include Royal Caribbean’s first swim-up bar Swim & Tonic; the Crown’s Edge skywalk (pictured); the new Category 6 water park; an eight-course tasting menu at Empire Supper Club in leafy Central Park, and a 55ft waterfall in the AquaDome.
With the launch of the Icon of the Seas, which features both adults-only and child-friendly areas, with entertainment catering for all ages, Royal Caribbean aims to deliver something for everyone.
