Promotion aims to attract more travellers from the GCC region
Wego has joined forces with the Spain Tourism Office to run a summer campaign designed to increase inbound markets from the Gulf Coast Council (GCC) countries.
The largest online travel marketplace in the Middle East, Wego's initiative aims to highlight the full spectrum of Spanish summer experiences from the cities to the coast, with a focus on the country's rich culture, cuisine and festivals.
This comes as regional interest in authentic, culture-rich destinations is at an all-time high, with recent data from Wego showing a “clear shift” by UAE travellers towards destinations that offer more than just relaxation.
“Travellers are seeking immersive experiences, cultural depth and visa-friendly convenience,” according to Wego’s Chief Business Officer, Mamoun Hmidan.

The campaign, which will run on Wego's website and social media platforms until August 2025, will remind users about discovering the architecture of Antoni Gaudi while strolling the historic streets of Barcelona, basking on the golden beaches of the Costa del Sol and seeing passionate flamenco performances in Seville.
What's more, it will showcase the country’s hidden gems which have appeal to the GCC, from sustainable tourism trails to off-the-beaten-path culinary experiences in regions such as Galicia and the Basque Country.
Travellers from the Gulf will have access to exclusive itineraries, as well as influencer-led content and curated recommendations focused on local gastronomy, cultural heritage and unique stays ranging from boutique hotels to traditional Spanish villas, tapas trails in Madrid to private yacht experiences around Ibiza.
Carlos Ruiz González, Director of Spain’s Tourist Office (Turespaña) for the GCC, added: “Summer in Spain is a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion."
Among recently opened hotels in Spain, SLS Barcelona has an enviable waterfront setting at Port FoĢrum, just minutes from the beach, with 471, all with balconies or terraces, six restaurants and bars, three pools and a spin studio.
