One&Only welcomes back guests to Malaysia’s Desaru Coast

With travel restrictions lifting in Malaysia, One&Only Desaru Coast reopens for business

For luxury travel agents looking for meaningful escapes for clients looking to unwind, Malaysia’s One&Only Desaru Coast is a safe bet.

Set on the south-eastern shoreline of Malaysia between lush rainforests and the South China Sea, One&Only Desaru Coast is surrounded by 128 acres of unspoilt nature, a stone’s throw from a 1.5km stretch of private white sand beach.

Opened in 2020 and designed by the award-winning Australian firm Kerry Hill Architects, the resort is a modern interpretation of the traditional Malaysian ‘kampung’ or village.

Every suite is framed by nature, either overlooking the stunning ocean or wrapped by rainforests. A retreat from city life, with wellness programmes by Chenot, an elevated culinary offering and curated destination-based experiences, the resort is easily accessible by car from Singapore or via a short internal flight from Kuala Lumpur.

Villa One lap pool

The resort’s F&B offering includes three restaurants and a beach club. Chef Andrew Walsh, of Michelin-starred Cure in Singapore, has elevated the art of barbecue with enticing Asian touches at Ember Beach Club, a buzzing venue set on the sand and overlooking two infinity pools.

One&Only Desaru Coast’s signature restaurant, Hoshi, combines Japanese sensibility with modern culinary techniques, serving omakase chef’s choice tasting menus with seasonal ingredients.

Ambara restaurant is an ode to field-to-fork dining, capturing the hearty flavours of Malaysia and the Mediterranean, using produce from local farmers and the chef’s garden.

Those looking for a selection of creative bites paired with bespoke cocktails can head to the open-air Dusky Monkey bar.

One&Only has established a global partnership with Chenot, an industry leading brand with nearly 50 years of science and practice in the field. The Chenot Spa at One&Only Desaru Coast is built around four pillars: sport and physical activities; emotional wellbeing, and nutrition and aesthetics. Combined they offer a wellness journey that extends far beyond the walls of the spa.

Treatments incorporate the best of science and ancient wisdom, and range from the Chenot Detox Body Massage to the Neuro-Acoustic Deep Relaxation Treatment, utilising neuroscience technology to induce calm in both mind and body.

The state-of-the-art fitness centre is equipped with the latest equipment from TechnoGym. Stretching and strengthening classes are available in the specialist Pilates studio, and yoga and meditation sessions are hosted in the beachfront yoga pavilion.

For those travelling with their families, the  resort’s KidsOnly Programme offers a wealth of activities to keep children entertained throughout their stay, from sport and cooking to cultural and environmental endeavours.
