Gate-to-gate service gives passengers speeds of up to 500 Mbps
Passengers travelling with Qatar Airways can now enjoy the world’s fastest inflight Wi-Fi free of charge, thanks to the airline’s roll-out of advanced Starlink technology across its long-haul fleet of 54 Boeing 777s.
The gate-to-gate service, which is complimentary to all passengers travelling in both Premium and Economy cabins, delivers speeds of up to 500 Mbps.
This upgrade makes the Doha-based airline the first in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to provide such high-speed connectivity, and the operator of the world’s largest fleet of Starlink-equipped widebody aircraft.
Enabled by an accelerated retrofit programme, Starlink installation was completed in just nine months, well ahead of the original two-year schedule. Each aircraft was upgraded in just 9.5 hours, ensuring there was no disruption to flight schedules.

Qatar Airways named ’World’s Best Airline’ for ninth time
Commenting on the upgrade, Qatar Airways Group CEO, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, said: “We promised the fastest, most seamless in-flight connectivity in the industry, and with Starlink we have delivered it faster and at an unmatched scale.”
With the Boeing 777 fleet now fully equipped, Qatar Airways is turning its focus to retrofitting its Airbus A350 aircraft, aiming to extend this high-speed connectivity across even more routes across its network of over 170 destinations within the next year.
Since the first Starlink-equipped 777 flight in October 2024, the airline has already operated over 15,000 flights offering this next-generation Wi-Fi experience
This technological milestone adds to Qatar Airways’ string of accolades in 2025, including recently being named World’s Best Airline for a record ninth time at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, as well as winning Best Business Class and Best Airline Lounge.
