The waterfront development in western province will be completed in 2027
Yanbu is the latest city earmarked for large-scale tourism development in Saudi Arabia.
The city, in the Al Madinah (Medina) province in the west of the Kingdom, is the location for a new 32,000sqm waterfront development, being built to transform the area into a thriving tourist destination.
According to the Baheej Tourism Development Company (Baheej), the company overseeing the project, the area will see the creation of a beach, a “tourist activation centre" and a lifestyle hotel (pictured). It is set for completion in 2027.
The city on the Red Sea coast currently serves as an industrial port and is home to a number of oil refineries. The development looks to see Yanbu become a fixture on the tourist map, showcasing the area’s natural beauty, sand beaches, Saudi Arabian culture and its history dating back to the 16th century.
