The Outpost Al Barari desert resort debuts in Qatar

The eco desert resort has international expansion plans

Helmed by Andrew Seltmann and Dr Peter van de Bunt, The Outpost Al Barari has been two years in the making but has now started welcoming guests to its Qatar location.

The high-end desert resort with luxury tented accommodation is set in an inland sea nature reserve, and promises to be a sanctuary for guests looking for seclusion and privacy.

The property has 21 suites, starting with the entry-level Explorer Tent, most with private pools. There's also a 75-square-metre Heritage Villa with private plunge pool while the 113-square-metre Al Barari Family Villa has two king-sized bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a large living and dining space and an oversized pool, while the largest accommodation option is the 150-square-metre three-bedroom Emiri villa with its own terrace, living area and pool.

Large terraces, complimentary wi-fi, rain showers, mini-bars, espresso machines and tea stations, plus in-room safes and a 50-inch interactive flat-screen TV are standard in every category.

Activities on offer include nature walks, exclusive inland sea safaris at Khor Al-Adaid, fat bike trails, camel rides and hot air balloon excursions. There's also a range of wellness experiences, including yoga on the dunes and a tailored body and soul programme, during which nutrition, pampering and workouts can be personalised.

The gastronomy offerings include The Al Barari international all-day restaurant and a Tea and Cigar Lounge, while food is also served at the Stargazing Deck. Additionally, pop-up dining experiences can be arranged from private villa barbecues to four-course dinners atop the dunes.

Those who want to leave with a piece of the resort can do so . Everything on display at the resort, from furniture to accessories, is available to purchase.

The plan is to roll out this concept to other destinations. The official website states: “Our vision is to create a global portfolio of Outpost resorts in the world’s most stunning and remote locations. We are looking for selected investment partners to join us to develop a truly unique collection of nature-friendly resorts delivering an experience you will not find anywhere else.”
