Alex McNeil will develop the line’s next generation of expedition cruises

Hurtigruten Expeditions has announced the appointment of Alex McNeil as senior vice president of Expeditions Product and Guest Experience.

Officially joining Hurtigruten Expeditions in February 2023, McNeil has been a pioneer in the expedition industry since 2007, completing more than 100 expeditions and reaching the North Pole 14 times.

In his new role McNeil will be responsible for bringing more depth and destination partnerships to bolster the guest experience.

His creative and collaborative approach to product development has led to the creation of industry-first itineraries, immersive shore excursion experiences and partnerships with indigenous communities.

Speaking about the appointment, Hurtigruten Expeditions CEO Asta Lassesen said: “Alex will play a significant role in developing the future of our expeditions as we continue to create new and exciting adventures for our guests. 

"His extensive field experience combined with his understanding of how to offer the most sustainable and inspiring expedition cruises, makes me confident that he will help us redesign the future of adventure travel.”

McNeil’s expertise in sustainable adventure travel will also help advance Hurtigruten Expeditions’ ambition to become the world’s most sustainable travel company, with the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2040.
