Leading astronomer joins Hurtigruten Northern Lights sailings

Renowned astronomer Tom Kerss will join selected Expedition and Coastal Express sailings from October

Knowledge on the Northern Lights, the Arctic sky and the solar system will be shared on Hurtigruten sailings this autumn by a renowned astronomer.

Tom Kerss will join selected Hurtigruten Expedition and Coastal Express sailings from October 2022.

A veteran of the Royal Observatory, speaker and writer, he has set up Stargazing London to deliver training and spark interest astronomy.

Kerss will embark on his first voyage to Norway on board MS Maud from Dover on 20 October 2022.

Besides lectures, he plans to lead excursions, such as an exclusive visit to the planetarium at the Science Centre in Tromso.

Hurtigruten UK and EMEA general manager Anthony Daniels said: “We are delighted that Tom will be joining our upcoming season of astronomy voyages and helping our guests truly immerse themselves in the incredible night skies of Norway. We are always seeking new talent to expand and increase our onboard expertise, and Tom is a fantastic addition to our expedition team."
