Private island resort operated from 2021 to 2026
Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort has permanently closed, operator Minor Hotels confirmed.
Set within The World Islands archipelago off the coast of Dubai, the resort was among the first to launch on the man-made cluster comprising 300 islands.
In a statement issued today, a spokesperson said: "Minor Hotels confirms that Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort ceased operations on 10 April 2026. This decision was taken in alignment with the owning entity, Seven Tides Ltd, following careful consideration.
“The closure is the result of a combination of external factors and is not attributable to any single issue. While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, our immediate focus is on supporting our team members through this transition.”

Seven Tides’ other Dubai hotels continue to operate as usual. The group’s current Dubai portfolio includes Dukes The Palm, NH Collection Dubai The Palm, Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort and Oaks Ibn Battuta Gate Dubai. Minor Hotel’s other Anantara property in Dubai, Anantara Downtown Dubai Hotel, also remains open at this time.
The move comes in the same month that Dubai landmark Jumeirah Burj Al Arab closes for an 18-month programme of restoration. Closing for the first time in its 25-year history, the iconic hotel will undergo upgrades to its guest rooms and social spaces.
