Manchester airport launch recognises importance of city for GCC travellers
GCC travellers flying through Manchester Airport can now benefit from Marhaba’s meet-and-greet services, as Emirates Group’s dnata brings its Dubai-based airport hospitality brand to the UK for the first time.
The move is part of dnata’s wider strategy to deliver the “warmth and care of Arabian hospitality to more travellers around the world.”
Designed to enhance the airport journey, the service provides arriving and departing travellers with tailored assistance from kerbside to gate, including fast‑track immigration clearance, baggage handling, chauffeur services and access to private lounges.
This expansion highlights Manchester Airport’s growing status as a major gateway for Gulf travellers.
That importance is clear in the numbers. In October last year, Dubai was the most popular destination from Manchester during the school half-term holidays, making it a natural choice for Marhaba’s UK debut.
The airport also has unrivalled connectivity to the GCC outside London. It is served by Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Saudia and Gulf Air, with additional regional links from EgyptAir and Royal Jordanian.
Emirates further underlined demand by introducing its newest A380 on the Dubai–Manchester route in July.
Launched in Dubai in 1991, Marhaba’s services have since grown to eight countries and extend beyond meet-and-greet to include private lounges, chauffeur transfers and, in Dubai, off-airport check-in.

Earlier this year, the brand also partnered with Dubai International Airport (DXB) to offer a dedicated VIP service for medical tourists.
Commenting on the launch, Clive Sauvé-Hopkins, CEO of Airport Operations at dnata, said: “This expansion reinforces our focus on delivering a seamless airport experience – one that’s efficient, personal and consistently high quality.
“As part of dnata, Marhaba builds on our strong UK presence across airport operations, catering, retail and travel services, allowing us to offer even greater value to passengers and partners.”
For Manchester, already one of the UK’s busiest air[ports handling around 27 million passengers annually, the addition of Marhaba further enhances its positioning as a credible alternative to London.
GCC visitors are drawn to the city for its Premier League football, cultural calendar and growing business profile, as well as its global reputation in music and media. High-speed rail links mean London is just two hours away.
