DXB and DWC add to their trophy shelf with recognition of their health and safety standards

Dubai Airports has been awarded two prestigious international safety awards, adding to its global accolades.

The operator, which runs Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC), was granted a 'Silver' Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, UK (RoSPA) award, as well as the International Safety Award 2023 with ‘merit' status by the British Safety Council.

Majed Al Joker, chief operating officer of Dubai Airports, said: "Providing our guests, employees and stakeholders with a safe, secure, and efficient environment is our top priority.

“We are proud to have won these two prestigious awards as they highlight the significance we attach to these objectives and our commitment to them, and we will continue to strive for excellence in this area.”

The RoSPA Health & Safety award assesses each business' Occupational Health and Safety Management System, and key criteria includes the engagement of senior leadership, and a review of accident and ill health records for both employees and contractors, as well as the daily implementation of safety management systems and policies.

The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards is the UK’s largest occupational health and safety awards programme. Now into its 67th year, the Awards have almost 2,000 entries every year, covering nearly 50 countries and a reach of over seven million employees.

In other awards, DXB listed in the world's top 20 airports ranking by aviation website Skytrax. Singapore’s Changi Airport has taken the top spot, with the Asian aviation hub dethroning last year’s winner, Hamad International Airport in Qatar. Dubai International Airport made it to number 17 in the ranking compiled using data from the largest annual global airport customer satisfaction survey.

DXB also retained its rank as the world’s busiest international airport for the ninth consecutive year in 2022 after welcoming more than 66 million passengers.
