More than 20 million passengers transited through Dubai International airport

Dubai International (DXB) has reported that passenger traffic for the first half of 2023 has surpassed 2019 levels.

The world’s busiest international airport welcomed 41.6m guests in H1 2023, up 49% compared to 27.9 million recorded in H1 2022. May was the busiest month with 6.9 million passengers.

India remains DXB’s top destination country supplying 6 million passengers in H1, followed by Saudi Arabia with 3.1 million passengers, and the UK with 2.8 million passengers, Pakistan with 2 million passengers, the US with 1.8 million passengers, Russia with 1.3 million passengers, and Germany with 1.2 million passengers.

Leading source city include London with 1.7 million passengers, Mumbai with 1.2 million passengers, and Riyadh with 1.2 million passengers.

Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths said: “We started the second half with strong demand in July and – with the ongoing seasonal peak coinciding with the reopening of schools in August – we’re preparing for an exceptionally busy rest of the year.

"We’ve readjusted our forecast for the full year from 83.6 million guests to 85 million, just 2% shy of DXB’s annual traffic in 2019.”

DXB is connected to 257 destinations across 104 countries, through more than 91 international airlines.
