Expo 2020 Dubai visitor numbers are skyrocketing

People are grabbing their last chance to visit Expo before it ends on 31 March

There has been a sharp increase in the number of visits to Expo 2020 as the closing date approaches.

An impressive 17.4 million people have visited the site to date, and organisers are describing the recent spike in numbers as a “phenomenal increase” with 1.4 million visits in a single week.

Speaking about the influx of visitors, Expo 2020 Dubai senior vice president of communications Sconaid McGeachin said: “We have said from the start that the numbers typically ramp up towards the end of Expo. We have been talking about the ‘now or never’. Clearly that message is landing with people.”

This last-minute surge is likely to bring numbers closer to the original 25 million visitor target

The high visitation figures can also be attributed to the increasing numbers of international tourists in Dubai. According to Dubai Tourism, the emirate welcomed more than 979,700 international tourists in January 2022, a growth of 116% compared to January 2021.
