Visitor numbers increased 384% compared to the same period in 2020
The number of visitors arriving in Oman during December 2021 amounted to 180,000, an increase of 384% compared to 37,000 visitors during the same period of the previous year.
According to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the number of GCC visitors to Oman reached 75,839 accounting for 42% of the total visitors during this period. This was followed by Indian visitors, accounting for 12% of the total visitors, Germans at 5% and Yemenis at 5% of the total visitors during December 2021.

The revenues of three- to five-star hotels amounted to RO17.6 million (US$45.5 million) during December 2021, compared to RO7 million during the same month in 2020, representing a growth of 149%.
The number of guests in these hotels reached 136,000 during December 2021, compared to 84,500 during the same period of the previous year, constituting a rise of 61%.
Oman’s overall hotel occupancy rate reached 48% during December 2021, compared to 27% in December 2020.
