The Emerald Collection to launch Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa

The resort will open in October 2022

The five-star, all-suite resort in Tanzania will be the first of the hospitality group’s properties on the African continent and will join the existing Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa and the upcoming Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa, also opening in October 2022 in the Maldivian archipelago.

Ahead of its opening on 1 October 2022, The Emerald Collection has announced that the new Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa has entered the prestigious The Leading Hotels of the World circuit,  becoming the first and only hotel affiliated to the association on the island.

Overlooking the picturesque Muyuni Beach in Matemwe, a pristine white sandy beach facing Mnemba Island in the northwestern region of the island, Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa is a 45-minute drive from the airport and is built on a hill that slopes down towards the coast, guaranteeing direct access to the sea.

The resort, currently under construction, will reflect its surroundings while featuring all modern comforts. The property will be integrated in a landscape architecture project where tall trees and tropical flowers will take pride of place.

Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa will feature The Emerald Collection’s deluxe all-inclusive formula of water sports and activities, a choice of four à la carte restaurants serving international cuisine, a gelateria and two bars, featuring a selection of premium wines, beers and spirits.

Guests will also have access to an Emerald Spa offering face and body treatments using natural products, a diving and water sports centre, a sports centre with a fully-equipped gym, tennis and padel courts, and a Dolphin Kids Club.

Commenting on the property’s imminent launch, Aldo Scarapicchia, The Emerald Collection partner and managing director said: “We are thrilled by the upcoming arrival of Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa. This is an essential project for The Emerald Collection, in which we have invested tens of millions of euros to be able to build a new resort in line with the standards of excellence of the brand. The structure will have only suites which will be the ideal starting point for guests to discover an incredible natural coral reef, as beautiful as that of Maldives, and the natural park on Mnemba Island.”
