UAE introduces five-year tourist visa

Entry requirements and validity periods for all visa types are more flexible

The UAE has announced significant changes to its visa system, expanding the Golden Visa programme and introducing several new types of visas including a long-stay tourist option.

The announcement comes after the UAE Cabinet approved the executive regulations of the Federal Decree-Law on Entry and Residence of Foreigners, aimed at strengthening the country’s position as a destination to live, work, visit and invest.

The new system offers UAE visitors a variety of visa types for different purposes. Changes to the current system include facilitating entry requirements for all visa types and offering flexible visa durations. In addition, all entry visas are available for single or multiple entry and can be renewed, and are valid for 60 days from their issuance date.

In addition to the regular tourist visa that is sponsored by tourism establishments in the UAE, a five-year multi-entry tourist visa has been introduced.

This visa allows the holder to stay in the country up to 90 continuous days, and may be extended for a similar period, provided the total stay does not exceed 180 days in one year.

This visa requires proof of having a bank balance of $4,000 or its equivalent in foreign currencies during the last six months prior to submitting the application.
