Waldorf Astoria Lusail, Doha appoints new general manager

Chris Franzen will oversee the 429-room beachfront hotel 

With more than 30 years of hospitality experience, Chris Franzen has been appointed as  general manager of Waldorf Astoria Lusail, Doha.

Franzen grew up in the Swiss alpine village of Zermatt at the foot of mount Matterhorn in a family of hoteliers. He began his career as a chef and sommelier and over the years has held roles in different operational departments across many properties, perfecting his multifaceted knowledge and talent. 

His extensive international expertise in leadership and management spans over five continents, ranging from luxury and upscale properties to select service operations in urban as well as resort environments.

After over 20 years in the GCC region across Dubai, Muscat and Doha, where he served as area vice president, Chris was then appointed as area vice president in India. On the completion of this assignment, he returned to Doha to launch a boutique luxury hospitality consulting firm, before taking on the role of general manager of Waldorf Astoria Lusail, Doha.
