Dubai issues inaugural multiple-entry tourist visa for World Cup

Jordanian football fan the first to receive the new visa

Dubai's General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has issued the first 90-day multiple-entry tourist visa for Hayya cardholders travelling via Dubai to Doha for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The move is in line with the UAE's support for Qatar in holding the FIFA World Cup. Dubai will host visitors heading to the event, allowing them to enter and leave the UAE as they shuttle back and forth between Dubai and Doha multiple times during the tournament to watch the matches.

According to General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri of the GDRFA, Qatar is expected to receive 1.4 million visitors during the month-long global sporting event, taking place from 21 November to 18 December.

A percentage of football fans are expected to prolong their stays beyond the World Cup in order to enjoy festive and New Year's Eve celebrations in Dubai, which includes a performance by Kylie Minogue at Atlantis, The Palm.
