TransPerfect AI translations available on Portugal airline’s codeshare flights

Etihad Airways passengers travelling on the TAP Air Portugal codeshare network will be able to access online content in 12 languages thanks to TransPerfect’s GlobalLink technology.

GlobalLink uses AI-powered technology to localise content for businesses serving multilingual customers, including customer support.

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways signed a strategic codeshare agreement with TAP Air Portugal in 2023, meaning Etihad customers can access destinations across the TAP network, including Rio de Janeiro and Cancun in Brazil, and San Francisco and Miami in the US.

In May 2025, the airlines extended that partnership to include their loyalty programmes, allowing passengers to earn and redeem miles for flights and hotel stays.

“Customers have the natural expectation of easily finding online most of the information they need to fly with TAP, clearly and correctly written in their preferred language,” said Sara Walter de Freitas, Digital and E-Commerce Director of TAP Air Portugal.

“Partnering with TransPerfect demonstrates our commitment in delivering on that expectation, ensuring quality and agility in digital content translation.”

Other travel and hospitality companies using TransPerfect include Hilton, Marriott, Radisson, Amadeus, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Armani Hotel Dubai.
