The airline’s designator code was announced at the 79th IATA Annual General Meeting
New Saudi carrier Riyadh Air has obtained 'RX' as its airline designator code from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The announcement was made during the airline’s first public appearance since its launch, with Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, in attendance at the 79th IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit held in Istanbul.
Riyadh Air's hub and operations will be based in Riyadh with operations scheduled to commence in early 2025.

The airline will connect Riyadh to more than 100 destinations around the world by 2030 and create more than 200,000 direct and indirect job opportunities.
Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas said: "We're delighted to announce that we have obtained 'RX' as our IATA code, which will be on every touchpoint that our guests see as they take flight with us. The code reflects our ambition to be a digitally led airline, having the connection of innovation and state-of-the-art technology."

IATA codes are an integral part of the aviation industry and the commercial organisation of air transportation of passengers and cargo. They're essential for the identification of an airline, international bookings and the work of ground service teams at airports.
The airline recently unveiled two livery designs, reflecting a visual identity inspired by lavender fields of the Saudi Arabia.
